We would like to congratulate DC AAP member, Joseph Wright, MD, MPH, FAAP, who was the recipient of the Jim Seidel Distinguished Service Award on October 26th at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
The Jim Seidel Distinguished Service Award (Section on Emergency Medicine) recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the field of pediatric emergency medicine.
Dr. Wright is Senior Vice President for Community Affairs at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, and a Professor of Pediatrics (Vice Chair), Emergency Medicine and Health Policy.
Dr. Wright is among the original cohort of U.S. board-certified pediatric emergency physicians. His interests include injury prevention and prehospital pediatrics for which he provides leadership as principal investigator of the federally funded Emergency Medical Services for Children National Resource Center. He is an elected member of Delta Omega, the nation’s public health honor society, and a recipient of the Fellow Achievement Award from the AAP Council on Injury, Violence and Poison Prevention.
