Voter Registration Information:
Deadline: October 11, 2016

Eligibility: U.S. Citizen/Permanent Resident, Maryland resident, 18 years old by Election Day

Process: Register electronically or via mail

  • Online registration: https://www.vote4dc.com/ApplyInstructions/Register
  • Mail-in registration requires: Government ID number AND Proof of residence
    1. Accepted ID numbers: Driver’s license number, DMV-Issued ID number or SSN
    2. Accepted proof of residence documents:
      • A copy of a current and valid government photo identification
      • A copy of a current utility bill
      • A copy of a current bank statement
      • A copy of a current government check or copy of a paycheck
      • Other government document that shows the name and address of the voter

Voting Deadline: November 8th (ballot must be received by date)

Process: Request application ballot by either electronically or by mail

  • Electronic system – Maryland’s Online Voter Registration System (OLVR)

Voter Card: Received within 3 weeks of application (or update) submission

Absentee Ballot Information:
Voting Deadline: November 8th

  • For in-person absentee voting: by 8pm on Election Day
  • For mail-in ballot: Must be postmarked by deadline and received by November 18th

Eligibility: Must already be a registered state voter

Process: Request application ballot by either electronically or by mail (see deadlines below)

  • Online request: Submit by November 4th (will be able to download ballot to mail in)
  • Mailed application: Must be received by November 1st (will receive ballot in mail)

Early Voting:
Time Period: Thursday October 27- Thursday November 3, 2016

Process: Arrive during polling hours on weekdays from 8am-8pm

Eligibility: 1) Registered voters OR 2) Non-registered voters who bring required documents*
*Even if you are not yet registered, you can register on-site and vote the same day
