SUMMARY: The Bainum Family Foundation is partnering with DC Action for Children and the District of Columbia Home Visiting Council to create a Home Visiting Policy Fellow. The Fellow will be a full time employee of the Foundation and work to support the Home Visiting Council. This Fellowship fits into the Bainum Family Foundation’s mission to operate and support educational programs and projects assisting underserved children and youth by partnering with partners, parents, and educators to offer services such as early learning, wrap-around support, and knowledge building.  DC Action for Children, which provides data-based analysis and policy leadership on critical issues facing DC children and youth, will be the Fellow’s primary work location. The Fellow will work to support the Home Visiting Council whose mission is to advocate for the implementation of home visiting as a strategy to support families and community. social services, social work, early childhood, education, early childhood development

The Fellow will be work with the Executive Director of DC Action for Children, the Department of Health, and the leadership of the Home Visitation Council to successfully implement and monitor the goals of the HV Council. These goals include:

  • Create and maintain Home Visitation Council rebranding strategies
  • Establish and track progress on citywide home visiting common indicators based on PEW’s home visitation framework
  • Build the capacity of Home Visitation Staff, including assessing career ladder opportunities
  • Focus on the re-organization of Home Visiting Council to ensure long-term success in achieving goals

The Fellow will also work with the Bainum Family Foundation to further the Foundation’s mission. In this capacity the Fellow will report to the Bainum Family Foundation’s Senior Director of Early Learning.

The Foundation structures our work through a portfolio of interconnected initiatives. All staff play a role in connecting and synthesizing knowledge across teams to further the Foundations’ Mission and Vision. Therefore, this person may be assigned to any of the Foundation’s initiatives based on initiative cycles and evolving organizational needs.
