What has your Chapter done lately?
- Completed conversion to a 501c3 organization.
- Began collaborating with local organizations on Park RX, a program designed to improve outcomes in asthma, obesity and ADHD by promoting outdoor exploration and activities.
- Received grant funding to implement Strong Beginnings for Schools to increase the proportion of D.C. children who are ready for school in all five domains of healthy development.
- Successfully advocated for improved Medicaid rates.
- Continue to be involved in the education of third party payors of the health needs of children.
- Provided testimony before local and national government officials.
- Worked with school and health department officials to revise and simplify health care documentation for school-aged children, including changing the physical requirement to annual and removing 150 day rule.
- Received funding for outreach to area medical students, residents and young physicians.
- Continue to host a pediatric career seminar series for area young physicians, residents, medical students and fellows.
- Engaged in improving quality of care for asthma, oral health, breastfeeding, obesity and children with special health care needs.
- Sponsored free talks for DC AAP members by Harvey Karp and other notable authors.
- Sponsored free educational session on MOC.
