On March 7th, DC AAP held its annual Advocacy Day at Children’s Shepherd Park campus.
More than 70 medical students, residents, and practicing physicians attended. Attendees heard from Dr. Ben Hoffman, AAP President-Elect (2024), Dr. Caitlin Bernard, obstetrician-gynecologist, and a panel of local pediatricians about their career journeys in advocacy.
Workshops were held on op-ed writing and other advocacy communications, the legislative landscape and the DC AAP Advocacy Committee’s activities. An interactive skills building workshop helped attendees practice their influence skills with tips on the art of persuasion.
