The DC AAP Adolescent Health Working Group held a day-long Reproductive Health Policy Symposium on October 15th, 2015 at the Wilson Building. The event was hosted by DC Council Member Yvette Alexander, Chair of the Council’s Committee on Health and Human Services. Speakers included both local and national reproductive health experts. Attendees included over 100 adolescent medicine providers, policy makers, government agency staff members, MCO staff members, community advocates, and local funders. The symposium included small group sessions where attendees identified action items to overcome reproductive health barriers faced by DC teens. Councilmember Alexander wrapped up the day by leading a panel of teen peer health educators from the Young Women’s Project and the Latin American Youth Center.
