On December 3rd, the DC Chapter’s newly formed Immigrant Child Health Committee, along with generous support of Crowell and Moring Law Firm, hosted “Caring for the Immigrant Child: A Panel Discussion on Education, Legal Rights, and the Unaccompanied Minor.”  There were about 50 people in attendance for this lively and very informative discussion; from pediatricians, to residents, public health students, social workers, lawyers, and others.  The diverse set of panelists included Tamar Haro, the Assistant Director of the Department of Federal Affairs for the AAP; Lauren Onkeles-Klein, a senior supervising attorney with Children’s Law Center; and Tiffany Nelms, the Associate Director for Home Study and Post Release Studies of the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants.
