DCAAP Internship

The DC Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is the Washington, DC chapter of the National American Academy of Pediatrics, a children’s health organization of 66,000 pediatricians. The DC Chapter has over 450 members and is dedicated to promoting the optimal health and development of children and adolescents of Washington, DC in partnership with their families and communities, and to support the pediatricians who care for them.

Internship Overview

DC AAP is seeking entrepreneurial, thoughtful, and creative interns. Candidates chosen will have attention to detail, display a passion for the health and well being of children, and feel comfortable with a virtual work experience. Our goal is to fuel the intern’s knowledge and passion on children’s health.

Requirements

Strong writing and communication skills

  • Must be available to intern for at least 60 days
  • Flexible schedule to work virtually
  • Trustworthy

Opportunities

Communication Intern

Interns will create communication strategies for DC AAP’s priorities. They will work closely with DC AAP staff to strengthen priority projects.
Activities will include but not be limited to:

  • Create strategies for social media and the chapter’s website.
  • Gather news stories, conduct interviews and create original content for monthly member newsletter.
  • Assist in virtual and in person event planning.
  • Other communication activities based on interest and skill set.

Program Intern

Interns will work on immunization and environmental lead exposure prevention projects in the District of Columbia. They will work closely with the DC AAP staff.

Activities will include but not be limited to:

  • Provide assistance in research to DC AAP committees on priority programs ∙ Assist in program development.
  • Assist DC AAP staff on program execution.
  • Provide support on virtual meetings and gatherings.
  • At the end of the internship period, the intern will have produced press releases, position fact sheets, news articles, blog posts and other materials that support the DC AAP.
