Help Support the AAP’s involvement in Wear Orange Day on June 2
The American Academy of Pediatrics is an active participant in the Wear Orange campaign on National Gun Violence Awareness Day on June 2, a campaign hosted by Everytown for Gun Safety to show solidarity against gun violence. Post photos of yourself #WearingOrange on June 2, share the gun safety information on HealthyChildren.org, change your social media profile photo, and encourage your followers to join the national conversation about gun violence. The campaign offers additional ways to participate:
- Share this Wear Orange Day video PSA to your followers, or embed it on your practice website.
- Display your support for the campaign by creating unique orange photos and images with the campaign’s tool
- Create your own Wear Orange event, or attend one in your area.
- Share information on HealthyChildren.org on Gun Safety: Keeping Children Safe.
Support Asking Saves Kids (ASK) Day on June 21
On the first day of summer, the AAP partners with the Asking Saves Kids Campaign to remind parents, as kids head over to their friends’ homes to play, that they should always ask if there is a gun in the home. The AAP is asking pediatricians to use social media and blogs to express support, promote ASK Day information on HealthyChildren.org, share stories and encourage others to join the conversation. Access the campaign toolkit for statistics, sample social media posts, infographics, and an ASK Day Video, among other resources
